Action :
Tannins / Ellagic acid:
1. It reduces the risk of skin carcinogenesis induced by environmental chemicals.
2. It is useful to modulate polyaromatic hydrocarbon carcinogenesis.
3. It inhibites the binding of benzo [a]pyrene metabolites to DNA.
4. It induces transcription of the quinone reductase (QR) gene & act as antioxidant.
5. It shows significant increases in total hepatic glutathione S-transferase (GST) activity, hepatic GST-Ya activity & hepatic GST-Ya mRNA.
Curing Diseases : 1. It is used in dyspepsia, diarrhoea and dysentery.
2. It is helpful in inflammations of stomach.
3.It is also used in heart pain and other cardiac problems.
